We All Love Typography
March 10th | Graphic Design
I have always been interested in Typography. When I see a good example of Typography, I just wonder why my designs don’t showcase that amazing element. Whether it’s spacing, font choice, position, kerning, I just can’t seem to get that look. I am always looking for designs that showcase amazing typography, below are 50+ examples of what I have found inspiring in my quest to achieve typography greatness.

Sweet examples, but could you link back to the sources of the original pieces/designers? I’d like to check out their other work.
No House Industries? I love their fonts and they have great examples of excellent typography on their site.
Great blog btw! (found via Stumble)

Love these examples, especially the ‘FunKrush-clothing’ piece; really striking and bold. I agree though, trying to achieve an ‘amazing element’ to artwork is always difficult. I find looking at other people’s work is great for inspiration. Trying to achieve what you envision is a different matter however!
Keep posting more examples, would love to see more.

The problem with many of these designs is that the art obscures the message - the text becomes unreadable. This reminds me of the 80s when I was on the Commodore 64 and Amiga designing scroller demos for a demo-crew. Over time, the text scrollers became more and more elaborate, showing off innovative graphics and coding effects. We had scrollers bouncing, then waving and rippling, then wrapping themselves around helical tubes, and finally twisting and distorting in so many ways the text became illegible. The only way to read it was to hack into memory and read the text with a hex editor!
To my way of thinking, the most effective typographic art is that which is easy to read while catching the eye with something unique. Pics 2 and 27 above appeal to me for this reason: 2 with its 3D text and 27 with the words “Graphic Design” still clearly legible while having an eye-grabbing pattern.

Wonderful and inspirational. Very graphic display of language…especially the jumbled and cut up words “because my tongue still misbehaves”. Well done.
And yes, a link back to the originals would be great as a reference.
Thanks!

Awesome display of type! I was wondering if any one knows what book that is that reads “superior copper-mixed type” at the top? I’d absolutely love to get my hands on a copy. Thanks!
