A few weeks ago we took a small weekend trip to Chicago. I love to travel and every time I travel somewhere I tried to bring something back for the readers of Inspiredology. There is inspiration all around us, I take loads of photos, and I am always thinking of what I can use for textures, patterns, and cool elements for posters. I was taking a look through the photos and I found 11 textures that I thought I would share with you. Feel free to download the zip file, I have included samples of the textures.

7 Hi-Res Bokeh Textures

Bokeh had become a huge trend in 2009, and shows no sign of stopping anytime in 2010. I took these images over Christmas, of a Christmas tree believe it or not… It was very simple to do actually, just zoom in close, blur the focus and start snapping. To all you texture junkies, these are yours to do what you please with, enjoy!

22 Textures from the Grand Canyon

I just came back from my trip to the Grand Canyon. We hiked Rim to Rim – 23 miles or something.. it was crazy – I took lots of great pics.. no worries there.. I also grabbed some textures along the way. So I decided to compile them here for you. There are a few from Vegas (took a side-trip before we came home, it was so close how could you not). There are a few extra goodies in there for you too. You can use these anyway, anywhere you want. Just another collection of freebies from Inspiredology.

East Coast Textures

As stated in last week’s Friday Fix I had mentioned that I recently went to Canada’s East Coast to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Halifax and the surrounding area is full of rich history and culture especially at the historic landmark of Peggy’s Cove, which was, and still is, a fishing village. While walking around Peggy’s Cove I was inspired to capture some of the very cool textures around the area, from old wood siding to crashing waves, to vibrant green algae growing on the water.

So enjoy a little taste of the Canadian east coast, through texture!

15 Spray Textures; Just another day at the office

A few years ago, I worked at a print shop, and we had a huge Roland printer, we did a lot of vinyl graphics and we would go through huge ink toners. One day we thought instead of throwing them away, we would always have a small amount of residue so we tried extracting that by smashing the toner on paper. These are the results, enjoy!!

I have recently found some textures in my old files, I used to collect these things like crazy, up until it become so easy to find and download on the internet.

The internet is filled with so many different resources online, I am just adding to that stock pile. I have posted a zip file below the examples for you to download, the file weighs in at 12.1mb.

9 Spray Paint Textures

I have always loved using spray paint textures in photoshop and illustrator. One day I decided to get some old spray cans and just spray at different angles, distances on white paper, and then just scanned in. It’s always nice to be able to create authentic elements for design. Enjoy!!

4 Free Miscellaneous Textures

Here are 4 textures that I am not sure how to label them, but I really enjoy them. The first one was used a few years ago in college as a background for a website mock-up. I really like the edges in the middle of the image. The second one was a simple scan of a print out that was smudge, the third being chalk on a black piece of paper, the forth being a radial burst I created for a project at my first design job. Enjoy!!
