Wow! This giveaway sounds like a web designer’s paradise!

For the past few months the Kings Of Leon – Only By The Night seems to be the only album that gets my Photoshop inspiration going nonstop. It’s an amazing piece of music that I seem unable to get tired of (unusual for me). Use Somebody and Closer are my favorite tracks! Oh and the band just won big at the Grammys!

      Thanks guys and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

    • February 1, 2010 at 10:38 am

Happy Birthday Inspiredology! (and Happy Bday Chad!)

I like to listen to a lot of hip hop when I’m working. But I like to find rare and unique stuff, for example, last thing I listened to was a mashup of WuTang vs. The Beatles. Check it out if you haven’t already: http://www.teasearecords.net/wuvsbeatles.cfm

Great giveaway! Keep up the good work, and may you have many more birthdays!

    • February 1, 2010 at 10:40 am

Awesome giveaway. Music that keeps me going is the steady beat of drum and bass on DI.FM, when I’m doing some actionscript it just keeps my head in the loop. literally. :)

    • February 1, 2010 at 10:43 am

Even though I don’t consider this my favourite type of music generally, I really love listening to classical music when coding or designing.

It really soothes my mind and allows me to focus on the task at hand.

Great giveaway, I hope it goes well for you!

    • February 1, 2010 at 10:47 am

The main piece I like to listen to is The Alan Parson’s Project: The Definitive Collection

    • February 1, 2010 at 10:49 am

Sometimes when I code I like to listen to Pet Shop Boys

    • February 1, 2010 at 10:53 am

This is definitely a huge giveaway!
I would say most music i listen to is rock Seether/Rammstein.

    • February 1, 2010 at 10:55 am

      Very nice birthday bash! :)
i would like to listen to Jason Mraz songs.. so breezing my mind :)

    • February 1, 2010 at 10:57 am

Wow, great prizes! Happy birthday, Inspiredology!

I usually find supportive but not intrusive symphonic music (Mozart or Corelli or Einaudi works best for me – my god, it rhymed!) or light instrumental jazz (Esbjörn Svensson Trio being my latest find).

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:00 am

Currently – O’death or Avett Brothers
      Alltime – Bouncing Souls

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:02 am

I guess it depends on what I am working on. If I am coding and really need to a clear head I will listen to FSOL (Future Sound of London): Lifeforms or something similar. Don’t want it to be distracting.

If I am really trying to get the juices flowing i will find a drum and bass mix. Something that is little faster and has some energy.

      Thanks for the opportunity.

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:04 am

“Secrets of Zen – Japanese Chillout Vol. 1″ – It really helps out during coding/design.

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:13 am

      happy birthday!

i fell im at my most productive when listening to new young pony club =D

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:14 am

      Happy birthday.

      Thanks for the opportunity.

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:16 am

Wow, what a great giveaway! Those awesome prices would be exactly what I need to get started again with my graphic design/web design business after my maternity leave.

The music I listen to varies with my mood and what I’m designing at the moment. If I’m feeling happy and eager to get started with a fun project I listen to old favourites like The Velvet Underground, The Smiths and Pulp. And I sing loudly ;)
If I need to concentrate more, like when I’m struggling with html, I listen to soothing French music like Camille and Axelle Red, or other nice female voices like Regina Spektor and Lykke Li.

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:21 am

Great giveaway, wish you all luck. Often I listening to minimal sounds from Paul Kalkbrenner or Trentemoller.

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:37 am

I love to listen to Flyleaf and 30 Seconds to Mars for some reason while I’m doing any type of design work.

    • February 1, 2010 at 11:37 am

      great giveaway…thanks.

I tend to listen to more sedate music at the start of the week like Bonobo or Fever Ray, although it’s mood dependant too so ambient music goes with a calming designer frame of mind.

Friday is more an upbeat type of day with The Damned, Skids, King Blues or some Jack White project to take me into the weekend.

    • February 1, 2010 at 12:08 pm

Biffy Clyro gets me going – i played a gig with them back when i was a rocker and since then i’ve been hooked – gets me in the mood!

    • February 1, 2010 at 12:16 pm

Wondered if I was ever going to reach the bottom then!

I listen to Pink Floyd a lot. The Division Bell in particular awesome album, and very relaxing. Although it does result in a lot of time staring into space.

At the same time though I also listen to things like Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Paramore, and Midnight Oil (that one old band).

Mind. Most people at school think i’m weird listening to Midnight Oil and Pink Floyd. Not you average Teenage music.

    • February 1, 2010 at 12:42 pm

      HAPPY BIRTHDAY

      An absolutely great site!

Norah Jones – any album, it’s just nice and mellow

    • February 1, 2010 at 12:49 pm

I’ve got to say, when getting down to work, I like to through on “Everything Counts” by Depeche Mode. Such a fitting tail of business at a tempo that is both upbeat and not too distracting. If Depeche isn’t doing it, i’d have to go with the Deja Vu album by CSNY, depending on what sort of “mental” state I’m looking for.

    • February 1, 2010 at 12:50 pm

    • February 1, 2010 at 1:45 pm

Wow, this is a crazy giveaway!

My favorite music to listen to while designing is Dave Matthews – there is a great balance between low key and high energy songs from them, and none of them are obtrusive.

      Perfect balance

    • February 1, 2010 at 1:49 pm

Great contest….Jazz (bebop, the masters). Listening to Coltrane, Monk, Bird, can get in a groove and everything flows.

    • February 1, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Two of my favorite things to listen to while designing are the album Chroma by Cartel or anything by Ratatat.

    • February 1, 2010 at 2:09 pm

    • February 1, 2010 at 2:14 pm

Happy b-day guys!! Awesome work you do, and I’m glad to follow you by RSS.

Well, I like rock (metallica, pearl jam, silver chair, staind, saliva, godsmack, disturbed, korn etc) and psy trance. Makes me focus and “turn-on” when I’m design or drawing UX interfaces.

    • February 1, 2010 at 2:18 pm

I’d say the latest edition of A State of Trance with Armin van Buuren. It gets me in the zone..

I listen to music all day, every day. Couldn’t design without it. Currently Radical Face and Beach House are on high rotation.

    • February 1, 2010 at 3:01 pm

Nice giveaway and happy birthday !!

I love any kind of music, but I listen to most to any album of Slipknot. I also love the cd of scars on broadway, a member of the band System of a down.

I always listen to Bon Jovi. I’m addicted to them :D

    • February 1, 2010 at 3:38 pm

For working late I love listening to The XX. If it’s time to be in a highly creative mood it’s M. Ward or, especially if one needs colourful graphics, Gorillaz.

    • February 1, 2010 at 3:44 pm

    • February 1, 2010 at 4:58 pm

I really like NewsBoys, Paralamas do Sucesso (brazilian band) and Ofinica G3 (another brazilian band).

    • February 1, 2010 at 5:07 pm

Right now I’m hooked on the totally tacky Glee soundtrack. I’m a huge fan of musicals anyways, and the combination of musical and high school satire really appeals to me.

    • February 1, 2010 at 6:35 pm

I like listening to instrumental music while working, especially Jesse Cook. I find that lyrics can sometimes be distracting (when you’re working). Happy Birthday!

    • February 1, 2010 at 6:47 pm

      Happy Birthday!
As for what music I listen to it really depends on the mood of the project. If I’m working on print material for a local MMA organization it will be a more aggro style of music such as Animals as Leaders or Ensiferum. If’ I’m working on an identity for a hair salon ( which is currently what I’m doing) it will be more relaxed such as Sondre Lerche and the Faces Down Quartet or Aesop Rock.

    • February 1, 2010 at 7:32 pm

When I’m designing, I like to listen to the radio. The reason? Because I can change the station to any genre I want depending on the mood I’m in. Generally I switch between today’s hits and country.

    • February 1, 2010 at 7:47 pm

Air’s latest album love 2 is awesome for background music

    • February 2, 2010 at 1:31 am

recently I have been listening a lot to Gil Scott-Heron’s new album I’m New Here. I do listen to all sorts of music as well, usually my mood will determine what’s on the playlist.
I would say that mostly Hip-Hop, Dub, Jazz tends to be the common theme, and Drum&Bass after 3 am when I’m about to pass out :)

    • February 2, 2010 at 2:52 am

Aus Hip Hop. That’s it, that’s all there is to it.
Its that beat that gets me fired up, those lyrics that get my mind racing, and then that computer the music is blaring from that lets me start working on an amazing piece of art.
      Horrorshow, The Herd, Drapht, Urthboy,
I urge anyone out there to give them a look up.

oh, and have a good one.

    • February 2, 2010 at 4:14 am

    • February 2, 2010 at 6:07 am

      Ambient and Jazz :) that’s my secret…

    • February 2, 2010 at 9:01 am

pretty much anything that fall in the “good music” category of the time (subject to change)…

But if i had to choose, the Album “Otras Canciones” by A77aque keeps on inspiring me.

    • February 2, 2010 at 9:59 am

It all depends on what I am working on. If it’s something like logos I tend to listen to something like John Mayer. If I am doing posters and stuff I tend to go towards something like Fall Out Boy. Shirt graphics would probably be Underoath. So basically any music will do just try to match some music to the project!

    • February 2, 2010 at 10:34 am

      Happy Birthday!

When I’m designing or developing, I like something easy that can make me relax and focus on the task at hand. Something like Pete Yorn, Ari Hest, Ray LaMontagne, etc…

    • February 3, 2010 at 4:37 pm

When we design, we really like heard all kind of music: jazz, rock, stoner rock, Latin-jazz, etc. But I think that, that kind of music is better to be listened being quiet on our room. Trying to be inspired for all those sounds and use that creativity on our design jobs.

But when I am designing I can’t put all my attention on that music. Seems that I need a slow-tempo music but with the enough rhythm to be concentrated and lively at the same time. The better music to me (and maybe is a more easily music to heard) is the Lounge music which contain different sound from all around the world (bossa nova, mambo, house, smoth jazz, etc). I can recommend the Lounge specials collections from Ministry Of Sound called La Nuit (Vol 1, 2, 3…). There are a lot of really good compilations, and internet radios, of this relaxing and cool music.

I hear also R&B and Hip Hop compilations (originals and remixes): the same formula; easy to hear and easy to be concentrated while I’m working on my design projects.

Just tune your favorite Lounge, R&B, House radio station on the internet and enjoy working. And another music (the more complex one) just leave for our spare time to really enjoy it and get the inspiration for our works.

      Good luck all.

I love listening to the soundtrack of “I’m Not There” the bio flick of Bob Dylan- pretty much it’s a whole bunch of contemporary covers of Bob Dylan tracks from Cat Power, Eddie Vedder, Sonic Youth, etc.

When coding i love to list the ‘Machine Head’ from Deep Purple. A classic! It brings me to deep inspiration for audacious coding.

      See you guys.

My favorite album: Tupac – All Eyes One Me. I love hip hop. Full album, only hits. One way for best works.

I listen mostly to anything classical, it gets me really “chillaxed” and “in the zone”

As you can tell from my poor attempt at comedy, I currently have no music on! lol

A little off topic perhaps, but a plea for people to think about the ethics of buying wetsuits. Do try and consider, for example, the materials your product is made from, the conditions of the factories where they’re made and the ethics of retailers. And try to recycle rather than discarding. Thanks!!!!
