42 Twitter Backgrounds
Some of you have noticed that we just recently started using twitter, it’s a great tool. After 2 weeks or so of using twitter, I have found some really cool twitter pages. With another tool on the web comes another place designers can take advantage of by adding their design skills. I was also looking for inspiration for my twitter page, I am still working on customizing my own twitter profile. I have compiled a post of my finds.. enjoy! Don’t forget follow us on twitter.

Ok, we were convinced – and have been busy investing in a custom twitter page.
Prior to this post most of the examples I have been shown looked more like undergraduate projects, but some of these really do demonstrate the value in investing in good design.

These are great but since most people (from what I’ve read) still have screens that are 1024 x 764, then most all of these designs’ main elements will be hidden behind the twitter content area.
I have seen some twitter backgrounds that were designed to work with a range of different size screens having the most important branding elements show up on most of the screen sizes. These are probably the most useful.
Maybe you can make another collection list of some of these type — flexible twitter backgrounds.

Even when I’m on my 17″/1920×1200 MBP I don’t have my browser window big enough for most of these to look right, let alone when I’m on my netbook (which is most of the time). Surprises me that otherwise incredibly talented designers fail to get this one right.
KrisColvin should not be on this list either. She jacked her layout from the Livejournal community mintyapple where boundaries (I think) posted numerous Twitter layouts and color codes.

It is a shame that we miss out on so many of these backgrounds because we’re too busy and must replace actual browsing with tiny bits of software to throw feeds at us. Maybe a metaphor for life?

Wow these are all amazing – I was struggling with how big/small to make my background but found a post with a downloadable twitter template in .psd format – pretty nifty as a starting point.

Good background collection. Backgrounds are good for when people check out your profile but most heavy Twitter users then move to alternate clients like Twhirl and Tweetdeck. I saw your posting say you were new to Twitter. We run the largest catalog listing of Twitter tools. Might help you grow more.

Some of those are pretty nice. Unfortunately 99% of their readers won’t be able to see them, since most people don’t have super high res screens like shown here (and if they do, I’m sure most run their browser no wider than 1024px)
