15 Blue Logos That Evoke Precision

The color blue is considered to be nonthreatening yet instill confidence. In addition, it’s a traditionally masculine color, so it’s no surprise that it also evokes ties to the corporate world. In advertising, blue is a good color choice for products with themes of clean liquids and airlines, according to Color Wheel Pro. And all those technologies that use blue in their logos? It’s no coincidence – blue is said to conjure thoughts of precision and intellect. Blue is also considered to symbolize justice, loyalty and perseverance – one of the reasons the American flag is believed to include that color. Take a look at these 15 blue-heavy logos and decide if the color makes you feel what the designer likely intended.

I love the fact it creates controversy even to this day and I think it’ll continue even when the games are over

Perhaps a dry run of the teleconference would allow the staff at Cisco to troubleshoot and fix technicalities and bandwidth issue!!!

Hi Jennifer: Yup, I was also looking for IBM here. To be honest, I think blue is not overdone as Chris has pointed out. I think it’s natural to opt for blue because it’s a basic color and it conveys a positive psychological effect.

Great collection, well done spotting the pattern of precise blue logos. Thanks for posting.

You’re right, Ben — I DID accidentally leave out IBM!

I agree that some of these logos are lacking in originality and contrast. I think they’ve done a good job of starting with a strong color and a basic design — some accent color would make the University of Bath logo more striking. I may have my next blog topic lined up!

These heavy based blue designs do lack some imagination, with design and the use of an accent colour as “Thames Water” & ” University of Bath” do appear flat.

How could you leave out Big Blue’s 8/13 bar logo designed by Paul Rand?

Sure blue is a great color, my favorite in fact, but in logos it sure is over done. It seems nearly every logo out there uses that same shade of blue to light blue. I see it as lacking in creativity and imagination at this point.

Thanks for your comment, Blythe. The study of color is fascinating to me — I’ve heard so many people say they’re not influenced by advertising, but they just don’t realize the subtle impact of color. Thanks for sharing the link to your blog, as well — I was especially interested in the color-pairing part.

I totally agree. Blue is such a universal color and can be used to symbolize many things, especially when paired with other carefully chosen colors! Notice the strength in the U.S. air force logo brought in through the silver paired with the blue. Awhile back I wrote a blog specifically on the color blue. I actually find it to be a very unisex color. Check it out if you are interested in some more thoughts around the color :) Isn’t color theory great?
