The screenshots don’t do them justice, so be sure to check them out in a HTML5 compatible browser and play around.

I recently created a Sudoku site (http://www.livesudoku.net), completely in HTML5 canvas, so it’s very interesting to see such fine examples of what can be done using this technology.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

All of these examples look awesome. And I’m not running into any functionality problems across browsers. But a quick “view source” on some of them leaves me a bit disappointed. It’s still mostly XHTML with some of them. It begs the questions…is a site really an HTML5 site if they only use a dash of it here and there? Seems a lot of sites claiming they’re helping to push 5 as the new standard, especially developers blasting visitors of their portfolios with how they use it, really aren’t.

Thanks for the examples, though. Bring on more HTML5!

Some great examples there. It’s good to see that more sites are moving towards a more comprehensive HTML5 structure.

Been an interesting challenge pushing towards an HTML5/CSS3 site on a corporate level with TerraCycle. Integrating new technology and restructuring an already complex and busy website has been a great project. The initial project was extensive, but the difference it’s made in terms of site performance, user satisfaction and also our ability to deploy new changes has been remarkable.
